Meet Jill Wolff, LICSW
I am a licensed independent social worker in Rhode Island and California and offer online therapy to clients in Rhode Island and California, in addition to my in-person practice in Barrington, Rhode Island. I offer therapy services to children, teens, young adults, and adults. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, including Sand Tray, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approaches. My priority is to provide a nonjudgmental and safe environment for clients to explore their thoughts and to feel heard. My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), those touched by adoption and/or foster care, and issues regarding loss and grief.
My Background
I earned my MSW degree from The University of Southern California, with a concentration in children and families. Following graduation, I attended a 2-year fellowship at the Reiss-Davis Child Study Center in Psychodynamic Child-Adolescent Psychotherapy and Psychodiagnostics. During that time, I enhanced my experience in psychodynamic therapy, sand tray, and play therapy. I completed Level I and II training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Attachment, Development and Trauma with Pat Ogden which is focused on the mind/body connection. I also completed An Adoption and Permanency Curriculum training (ACT) for Child Welfare and Mental Health Professionals while working in the Reiss-Davis Adoption and Foster Care Department.
My Approach & Philosophy
It is my belief that every individual is unique, has the ability to grow, and to become the person they wish to be while being provided with a safe, nonjudgmental, and nurturing environment. I am hopeful that you will learn to trust that I will allow you to move at a pace that is right for you, set goals you wish to achieve, and if necessary, to contradict my thoughts, as our relationship will be one of mutual respect and collaboration. I view therapy as a journey-it doesn’t typically move in a straight line-it may move forward, get stuck, move forward again, or even take a step back, only to move forward once again. However, it is my belief that through this journey, one learns insights about their strengths, and you will be provided with tools and strategies to assist you, along with my continued support. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you.
