Meet Melissa Breese, LMHC
I am a licensed mental health counselor in RI and MA where I offer online therapy to individuals in both states and also offer in person therapy in RI. I work with young adults and adults and frequently treat anxiety and depression. I take a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and internal family systems (IFS) approach. Additional areas of specialization are LGBTQIA+ affirming care, ADHD management, burn out, low self esteem, life transitions, and relationships.
My Background
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University. I received additional training in outpatient and private practice settings where I worked with a wide range of clients with different backgrounds.
My Approach & Philosophy
I strive to provide a comfortable and open environment in therapy and believe the relationships I establish with my clients is the most important aspect of therapy. We will work together to better understand what is maintaining undesired patterns in life and then figure out what specific skills will best help you make your desired changes. We will focus on goal setting and frequent check ins about the effectiveness of our work, as it is important to me that you can see the progress you are making and have an active role in the direction of therapy. While I do consider myself a skills based therapist, I ultimately focus on empowering my clients to accomplish the changes they desire and become their true and authentic selves.
I would love to talk more and get this amazing journey started. I look forward to working with you!
